HOD Message

The Neuro Physiotherapy Department specializes in the assessment and rehabilitation of individuals with neurological conditions affecting the central and peripheral nervous systems. Here’s an overview:

  1. Assessment:

– Neurological Examination: Thorough assessment of motor control, sensation, balance, coordination, and functional abilities.

– Gait Analysis: Evaluating walking patterns to identify abnormalities and challenges.

  1. Treatment Modalities:

– Neuromuscular Re-Education: Targeted exercises to improve motor control and coordination.

– Balance Training: Exercises to enhance stability and prevent falls.

– Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES): Using electrical currents to activate muscles and improve function.

  1. Conditions Treated:

– Stroke Rehabilitation: Helping individuals recover from the physical effects of a stroke.

– Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation: Addressing impairments resulting from spinal cord damage.

– Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s Disease, and other Neurological Disorders: Providing tailored interventions for specific conditions.

  1. Adaptive Equipment and Assistive Devices:

– Recommending and teaching the use of aids like walkers, braces, or wheelchairs to enhance mobility and independence.

  1. Patient Education:

– Educating patients and caregivers about the condition and strategies for managing daily activities.

– Providing home exercise programs for continued improvement.

The Neuro Physiotherapy Department aims to maximize functional independence, improve quality of life, and facilitate the integration of individuals with neurological conditions back into their daily activities. The focus is on addressing specific impairments and optimizing overall neurological function.

Department Objectives

  1. Understand how ICF is used.
  2. Gain an understanding of the stages of human development, from conception to adulthood.
  3. Understand the anatomy and operation of nerves and muscles in order to better understand electro-diagnostic testing.
  4. Understand how to apply the appropriate procedures or instruments to examine neurological disorders.
  5. Understand the theoretical foundations and basics of manipulative and neurotherapeutic approaches.
  6. Keep track of evaluation data so that you can examine the patient on a regular basis.
  7. Evaluate the architecture of the body and motor control-related functions that affect activity, involvement, quality of life, and independence.
